Disney Teacher Tom Szymanski selected as a Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic Education Grosvenor Teacher Fellow

The 2014 Fellows, a group of twenty-five highly respected educators from the United States and Canada, will embark on Lindblad voyages aboard National Geographic Explorer for a hands-on experience for professional development. The Fellows will travel later this year on in-depth, eight- to 14-day expeditions to locations including Arctic Svalbard, Iceland, Greenland, the Canadian Maritimes and Antarctica. They will experience firsthand the landscapes, wildlife and cultures unique to these parts of the world, including formidable glaciers, polar bears and penguins, through hiking, kayaking, Zodiac excursions and cultural outings. Led by expert Lindblad-National Geographic expedition team members, including Lindblad naturalists, a National Geographic photographer and an undersea specialist, the Fellows will gain a wealth of knowledge to develop activities and lesson plans for their classrooms and to share with professional colleagues and communities upon returning home.

Mr. Szymanskiis deeply honored to be selected as a 2014 Grosvenor Teaching Fellow and the opportunity of delivering the natural-world laboratory experience to the classroom for his students, whole school and Do Your P’art Foundation where students across the Chicago region will develop a call to action to be positive agents of peace and change socially, culturally and environmentally because of this experience.   In Memoriam
Diane Disney Miller was an elegant, soft spoken, remarkable woman who carried her family's legacy with grace. We were fortunate to have known her. She enriched the lives of the Disney family with her generosity and her undying support of our vision. May she rest in peace knowing that she brought so much to so many with her personal style and representation of her father's genius. We will miss you, Diane, but you will always be a part of what we do at Disney because you believed in us. And dreams do come true. ~ 11/13/2013
